Muscovy Ducks
We have been raising muscovies for about 8 yrs
now. They do very well for us free ranging as they are able to fly and
perch and seem to be a bit more predator saavy than most domesticated
ducks. Most of our muscovies roost in trees at night. They also do not
quack but instead make a variety of chirps and hisses when "talking" to
one another. For the most part they are very quiet! Muscovies are often used for their meat, with the males reaching up to 15lbs. The meat is very rich and lean. Muscovy ducks are also great for insect control. They will help with ticks and flies around your farm! Muscovy hens are excellent mothers and quite prolific! We typically have ducklings available spring through early fall, and older birds sometimes available in the fall. |
